I was standing in a kebab shop in Manchester around six years ago, and struck up a conversation with a young lady who was waiting for some freshly prepared doner delights. It turned out that we had something in common, as she was a musician. However, she was quite down-hearted about her state of being. At the age of twenty-five, she was pretty much convinced that she was too old to make it in the music industry. I wasn’t going to console her by telling her she was wrong, even though I thought she was. However, perhaps the statistics say that there was a grain of truth in her cause for frustration.
